Visual Information Specialist

This position is located in the Division of Interpretation and Education and reports to the Chief of Interpretation and Education. As a key member of a digital media team, the incumbent will complete project work designing and creating a variety of non-personal services (such as brochures, exhibits, waysides, websites, social media, podcasts, etc.). The work utilizes a windows based operating system to produce nonpersonal media using desktop publishing applications, digital video editing, still photography production, website creation and other software applications to facilitate the electronic development of non-personal interpretive services. Will be responsible for editing a variety of visual communications and presentation materials; such as, newsletters, pamphlets, brochures, fact sheets, fliers, spreadsheets, website content, and new releases using appropriate grammar and punctuation. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-07/29/2020-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must possess one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as:
providing desktop publishing services for technical reports, forms, newsletters, and/or management documents; providing computerized layout and design services; developing and maintaining websites; preparing electronic camera-ready print files, review and approval of proofs. -OR- EDUCATION:
Successful completion of at least a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, OR LL.B. or J.D., if related, from an accredited college or university. This education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities to do the work of the position to be filled, such as commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. You must submit a copy of your transcripts if you qualify based on education. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. For example, 6 months of specialized experience as described above, and one and a half years of graduate level education in a related field. NOTE:

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Minimum Age Requirement:
Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and:
(a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
