Administrative Support Assistant (OA)

This Administrative Support Assistant position serves as the park's liaison with the Servicing Human Resources Office (SHRO). You will be the primary contact at the park for HR matters, worker's compensation matters, timekeeping, and program coordination. Initiates personnel actions to be authorized and approved by the SHRO. Provides guidance and counsel to park personnel to ensure that all HR related documents are prepared in accordance with established SHRO policy and procedures. Reviews award packages for format and conformance with guidelines and instructions. Actions/support include a variety of accessions, separations, and related action, for positions in the competitive service, excepted service, and/or special programs/authorities such as veterans, people with disabilities, students, and seasonal employees. Provides orientation for new employees on Entrance On Duty (EOD) dates; assists in the completion of their in processing paperwork. Checks employees in and ensures supervisor checks employee out upon separation. Ensures hew hires are aware of background investigation requirements and submits required information to SHRO or other appropriate offices within established timeframes. Provides accurate and reliable information on the administrative functions of the park, National Park Service, or Department of Interior on the basis of personal knowledge or on the basis of personal research in the guidelines or contacts with the offices and individuals at other parks or at higher levels within the National Park Service. May provide information and guidance to lower graded administrative support assistants. Serves as the primary timekeeper for the unit reviewing time and attendance reports for employees and assuring reports are correctly entered into Quicktime. Maintains Quicktime files and training certificates of various levels of users. Responds to issues involving Quicktime administration. Advises supervisors and employees concerning questions about pay, hours of duty, and leave. Provides technical assistance as needed. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-10/06/2020-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. This position performs typing functions and the ability to type 40 word is required. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years. Agencies may verify proficiency skills of self-certified applicants by administering the appropriate performance test). - AND - To qualify for this position at the GS-06 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as:
providing monthly statements of commitments, obligations and status of funds, with recommendations to supervisor; recommending program adjustments to resolve discrepancies, Providing accurate and reliable information on the administrative functions of the park, headquarters, regional office, division or center (as applicable), Assisting in providing basic employment information to the general public, and provide administrative support to management on the practical and clerical aspects of office administration, to include human resources, budget, acquisition and property management, and other administrative support services, and to perform staff support work in each of these areas. Experience:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
